Accelerating sustainable food supply by connecting agronomy with ecology and economy

To maintain global food supply and build climate change resilience, the quality of our soils must be improved, water preserved and biodiversity protected. To address climate change, farming systems must evolve and net carbon emissions be reduced at scale.

Carbosuelo drives those changes by combining proven sustainable agronomy with economic value-chain incentives.

25%

A quarter of the world’s carbon emissions comes from food production

-3%

About 3% of the worlds fertile soil is lost every year, largely due to conventional farming.

~10%

Only a small fraction of global farming is performed sustainably today.

Conservation Agriculture as an impact enabler

Implementation of the three key farming principles of Conservation Agriculture is common to most sustainable farming approaches, and generate direct benefits for both Growers and the Environment.

Avantages of Conservation Agriculture

Mitigation and adaptation to climate change

Increased productivity and ecosystem services

Soil conservation and improvement of water quality

Adaptable to any crop system and region of the world

Improvements in the contents of Soil Organic Carbon / Organic matter

The 3 pillars of Conservation Agriculture

Direct seeding

Permanent soil cover

Crop rotations

Growers

We provide growers with new revenue streams and best-in-class agronomic support to help the transition to Conservation Agriculture, building agronomical and economical climate resilience to their farm operation.

Food Chain

We provide supply shed-based, Scope 3 carbon insetting solutions for companies sourcing feedstock from the EU markets where we are present. The farm produce source can be different from our carbon asset origin.

NBS Investors

We deliver returns by generating high integrity carbon and biodiversity assets.

Bankable grower contracts, growing demand and price trends, leading third party certification and an emerging European compliance market are solid fundamentals of our commercial activity.

Commodity Trade

We help agricultural commodity traders to provide lower carbon footprint commodities, for Scope 3 insetting recognition. The source of the commodity can be different from our carbon asset origin.

Our offering

Conservation Agriculture expertise

Integrating recognised CA experts (advisors to FAO, World Bank, government) in our team, and collaborating with the country-specific CA associations for implementation we have the most relevant competence and best reach available to ensure grower success and maximise carbon impact

Scalable agronomical grower support model

With our experience-based strategic objective to drive deep impact at high success rates, we will operate a scalable grower support platform, based on exclusive online resources, learning tools, and expert forums, combined with local grower training events and field visits.

High integrity carbon value certification

Carbosuelo only works with globally renowned third party high integrity certification standards (e.g. Verra, Gold Standard), and with external, approved, verifiers. We don’t self-certify our CRUs, and use locally validated, recognised, science-based soil models complemented by soil samplings. This makes our carbon assets reliable and tradeable in the global marketplace.

Scope 3 carbon insetting & low carbon commodities

Carbosuelo is a member of SustainCert-VCI, which is a standard developer for Value Chain Scope 3 insetting accounting. Through VCI, carbon assets can easier be integrated into corporate SBTI net zero carbon accounting or used to validate low carbon ag commodities. Carbosuelo assets will be VCI compliant.
